I'm on a bit of a tare with the space marines. I've set up a 500+ point beginning force of crimsom fists space marines. chapter master, two combat squads, a rhino, and a librarian. lean and mean.
I got the rhino and the black reach box set captain for a song on ebay and this formed the basis for the new army. Pictured here is the captain w/detail picked out on gun and face & the first drybrush.
I love blue over black: the highlights really pop & I feel the same way with layering reds. As such, this just really seemed to be the army for me. Also, you learn quite a bit working on an army for the first time, sadly from mistakes, and turning around and putting that learning to use immediately is pretty good when you are painting.
Doing some terrain a "fire base" and a ruined bldg. will post those soon.
Is it ok to hate your workbench? Or perhaps find a way to let my Space Marine linger on your workbench and see what happens?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that figgy looks awesome. I am surprised, however, that you do so much detail in one area and none in others. I like to work full body all at the same time. I would be terrified of painting his face while I was laying a base coat on the cloak.
I also look forward to seeing your terrain.
Yeah, I f'''ed up. I needed to do the cape lining before I finished gluing him together. That was the first mistake.
ReplyDeleteI usually work from the inside out. But, some of the inside for him will remain only primed. That's going to be tough. I'll see if I can catch some of the internal details. the main and possibly the only one being the lining of the cape's right side. Everything else I will be able to pick out with ease.
Actually, I've been drybrushing the rest of the crimsom fists so I don't know that I'll move onto terrain next. But I have the fire base assembled. All I need to do is prime and drybrush and then paint in some detail.
Well, post WIP then. Pre-painting. I have been working on a communication station and have it primed. Thinking of posting it if I get a chance before I leave on Thursday. Lots of grading between here and there though.
