Hey everyone,
The big project recently started by the West Texas Wargames Association (of which I am a member) is the game AT-43. The minis are prepainted and plastic, but they are nice molds, and mine repainted fairly well, I think. Actually I just gussied up the armor with a peat wash from Winsor Newton to make them look dirty and greasy. The infantry got pretty much the full works, though.

Here the infantry, the "Kolossus" units, and the Nakolvany strider (the big one) are taking to the street.

Closeup on my infantry, which are the elite Spetznaz commandos. My force is the Red Blok, which are kind of neo-soviets. The "Collective" that my particular force comes from is called "Frontline," a kind of ideal socialist state of the Red Blok.

Here the Nakolvany comes down an alley while the Spetznaz open fire.

Closeup on the Spetznaz commander firing over a small wall.

The armor moves out. The smaller ones are the Kolossus units. Each of these has rocket launchers, and the Strider (the big one) has anti-intantry weapons.

Side view of the Spetznatz taking the library, which some of you will remember was the location where many a Mordheimer has died...

Spetznaz on the roof and in front of the library. The guy on the far right on the roof has the flamer - characteristic of the Spetznaz commandos. I think I need a groundcloth that is not gray -- too much gray here.

My unit is nicknamed "The Children of the Hammer," and the leader has the hammer insignia on his shoulder armor. A little hard to make out here.

The Kolossus units flood out into the street, rockets blazing!

Big group shot. This is the whole force coming out to assault. I have a few more models on the way (how could I have passed up on the sales?), and so I will have two more striders and another unit of three Kolossus (these with grenade launchers and flamers. The hope is that the game plays OK after all of this, but they are nice minis anyways. I am also lucky that Mike has decided to invest in some of the enemies of the Red Blok - the Therians.
These look pretty cool. I have had them on the "to-think-about" list for a while now. You have any before shots? I would like to see them before they got the IMS treatment (sounds expensive, no?).
ReplyDeleteAlso, this was just your army running over some terrain or was there an actual enemy here?
I just noticed a sale on these items at one of the links Costas mentioned, I think. Or maybe it was the warstore. Anyway quite intriguing and nice sculpts from Rakham. I hope the game mechanics are much easier than those for Confrontation.
ReplyDeleteNice painting. Were I to, I would go for the Red Bloc as well.
Actually,
ReplyDeleteRob and I are exploring the possibility. The absurd sale is over, but Niel's everday price seems pretty reasonable.
I meant o tell you that the terrain your robots are crawling all over does look very familiar. Some fantastic games then.
Crazy sale still going on here:
