In the Hopper

I'm awash in a tide of gamey goodness. Many thanks, Kit, for pulling us all together. I have some recently completed (photo shy) pieces. Necron and Eldar to share. Its actually a bit of a nothing post, isn't it? Patience.

Random: the new Citadel washes are shite. If you see them used and endorsed in WD (as in the recent tale of four gamers) its a lie. Look to other manufacturers to emulate the now defunct citadel washes.

I just finished Abnett's new novel Titanicus. A thoughtful and very well written read. Check your library-right, like anyone has anything like the time.

  1. You know, I have never picked up a Warhammer novel of any stripe. I assumed that thoughtful and well written were two phrases that would never be uttered with them. Based on the above, I will abandon my textual profiling and pick one up. Can one start with Titanicus or are they a series of sorts?

  2. Chris,

Surprising indeed. Most of the Black Library novels are excreble.

This author has written two series for 40k: Eisenhorn and Ravenor. I'm reading Ravenor right now. Both series center around Imperial Inquisitors.

Titanicus seems to be a stand alone (thus far) and is set among the Titan Legions.

It is smart work as well as genre fiction. Very Cyber/Steam Punk. Seems much akin to William Gibson in substance if not ideology.

    Dark, gritty, Medieval--cool.

Anthony mentioned that he had read some comics that Abnet has scripted.

Gordon Rennie is another author I can endorse. I've made Matt and Rob read a couple of his, and they liked them as well.

I got a copy of Serena, but haven't started it yet.
